Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: Snivilisation is one of Orbital's most accomplished works. Partially consisting of experimental loop-oriented progressions and clamorous noise fills, other dominant tracks also purvey elements of drifting "technotic" bliss. The appearance of guest vocalist Allison Goldfrapp, who sang on Tricky's Maxinquaye album, adds to the appeal of two tracks. As audiences succumbed to the electronic symbiosis generated by Orbital's mystique, the group's political outlook became realized on bold tracks like "Are We Here." The track rallied rave culture as it scorned austere governmental policies which descended upon England's electronic masses. Combined with traces of Eastern-oriented influence, the album further heralds Orbital's outward affiliations applied within their technology-driven platforms. --Lucas Hilbert

Stop me if you've heard this one. A band becomes famous, on the strength of a few great pop singles. Their ambition grows, they're not content to be hitmakers, they want to prove themselves as artists. That way madness lies: overwrought "statements," concept albums, side-long instrumentals, songs about slaying dragons, and other prog-rock detritus.
Orbital's Snivilisation isn't quite that bad, but it is a mostly unsuccessful attempt to create an Electronic Statement, right after the ... Read More

This is a classic album. It's my favorite album by Orbital. I loved this album when I was more into electronic music years ago... But I still enjoy Snivilisation from time to time. It's stood up pretty well. Read the spotlighted review "Spoiled by Orbital" that I complemented in the comments section. I listened to this album while riding out of Death Valley not too long ago. We had stopped the car and got out and looked up at the night sky and saw more stars than either one of us had ever seen in ... Read More

Unfortunately, I can't give this one a full 5 stars, I save the 5 star review for the stuff that really is the best there is. This is a great CD in it's own right, great to just put on for background music, but really appreciated when you listen to it with headphones and can hear everything. If you're collecting Orbital stuff, put this one high up on the list.

This album was worth the purchase for just the (Forever) piece, but the rest of the album is worth listening to.

I must be missing something because I don't like the two Orbital albums that I own. I was snaked into buying Orbital because I have some compilation albums each with a good track of Orbital thrown in. I thought I was going to get more of that kind of sound, like Halcyon. But I was denied. Nothing on this or The Middle Of Nowhere stands out to me as being good.
