Amazon.com:
Bouncing back from the deplorably mediocre Beneath the Surface, GZA reasserts his position at the head of the Wu-Tang corpus. The most obvious improvement is in the production, masterminded by various Wu-Tang acolytes of RZA's dissonant funkalistics. Beats are kept simple--one- and two-bar loops sampled from across the musical spectrum--but despite their austerity, they're impressively efficient sonic packages that complement GZA's own powerfully compact lyrical style. The self-proclaimed "ill rhyme kicker / with no parental sticker" rolls with almost nonstop braggadocio on the album, flashing his virtuosity with metaphorically inspired songs like "Fame" and "Animal Planet" and wordplay parties such as "Knock, Knock" and "Sparring Minds." The album's main liability is that it's consistent to a fault. The 15 tracks begin to sound like variations on one another and, despite the individual qualities of any given song, the overall album begins to get monotonous halfway through. --Oliver Wang

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Another classic from gza
Gza is by far my favorite member of the wu-tang clan. This album from start to finish is just ridiculous. The album starts off with auto bio which is a great way to kick off this classic album. Did ya say that is next which is an interesting track the beat is kind of funky and it has a sub par chorus. Next is silent which has that wu-tang feel right off the bat and features streetlife and ghostface. Awesome song one of my favorites on the album. Next is knock knock. This one is a hard hitter ... Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Please, in the Name of the Wu...Re-Release this Album
GZA rules. He is easily the best of the best...but sadly, this album is edited. I like the curse words; I like hard-core gangsta ish. Wu-Tang should never be soft. (My mother could listen to this joint and not cringe.)

So, GZA...or RZA...or whoever owns the rights to this beast: re-release this joint un-cut and un-edited. Please!

Four stars for an otherwise five-star album.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Reviewers are just stupid
this album is good beats are great (Knock knock, Silent, Fam,Auto Bio are some of the best instrumentals) Lyrics are in my opion the smae maybe even better then liquid swords and beanth the surface. I admit it's difficult to listen to this album it is a little boring some times but 75% of the album is sharp. RZA is a genius (just like all of the wu) but i'd rather hear his production spread among artists then just a ton of one artist and no others. I respect the reviewers who gave this 4 and 5 star ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - a lost scroll in the wu legend
gza truley is a genius this cd is a lost scroll in the wu legacy his lyrics are as sharp as ever an he tells the legend as good as the mc did on the first

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Legend of the liiquid sword
The only problem i have with this album that it is
very repetitive and almost every song sounds like a
duplicate of the next well i have another problem
with the album as well it sounds like the gza is
using a bunch of big words trying to sound deep but
it comes across sounding redundant and lame
Overall it is a good outting for the genius!
