The Prodigy, Invaders Must Die

2009 release, the fifth studio album by the acclaimed and controversial British Electronic act. As one of the most successful and respected Dance groups of recent times, this album sees the return of both Keith Flint and Maxim to the fold for their most exciting album to date. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - One problem
I think this is a really good record. I agree that it's an impressive return to form. However, I hate the mix of this. I guess to keep current with the times, Liam decided he was going to put a ton of compression on the master, which makes it sound one dimensional and muddy. I saw an interview with him around the time this came out and he said he was listening to a lot of Ed Banger stuff, which is probably where he got the idea. That sort of heavy compression works well with sampled disco stuff ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Ebizdynamix.com reviews Invaders must die - The prodigy
There's no doubt the Prodigy personify the ultimate fusion of rock and dance music.

Ever since "The fat of the land" no one else managed as well as them to capture the excitement and immediacy inherent in both genres. "Invaders must die" recalls elements of the Prodigy's great past with its constant refrain in the title track and a build up of tension like a call to arms, reminding us how exciting an act they are (especially as a live prospect).

"Omen" sounds like another blast ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Full Blast Techno Punk..
Snapping the break beat in half, Liam Howetts's latest Prodigy album tops the dance charts for sheer relentlessness. Track after track with it's pulsating rhythm, bass and drums from opening to closing track. Whether he is pissed off at the reaction to the anticipated follow-up to 'Fat of the Land' (which featured the most noticeable chart-topping tracks) of the album 'Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned' - which was received fairly poorly, or if he is just pissed off in general, one thing is for sure - this ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Classic, Yet Innovative
2009 graced us with Invaders Must Die, which is a classic-sounding Prodigy album with all original members returning. We do see some evolution however, as Prodigy are a band that constantly introduces new sounds and styles to their mix. The title track is amazing and catchy, but "Take Me To The Hospital" stands out, as it manages to blend Liam Howlett's signature break beat sound with the fiery vocals of Keith Flint better than 1997's overrated single "Firestarter".

"Colours" pummels the listener ... Read More
